An Integrated Visit at your home will include one or all of the services described below, whichever is deemed most beneficial to your pet the day of the visit.

Services

  • Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medical technique where sterile needles are inserted into specific points in the body to stimulate nerves, muscles and connective tissue, helping relieve pain and re-balance the energy in the body.

One or all of the following acupuncture techniques may be utilized to help with treatment of your pet: Dry Needle, Aqua-acupuncture using Vitamin B12, Electro-acupuncture and Moxibustion.

Dr. Lindquist is certified in both small and large animal Acupuncture through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS).

  • Veterinary Spinal Manipulative Therapy (VSMT)

Veterinary Spinal Manipulative Therapy (VSMT) for animals, also known as animal chiropractic, is a manual method for evaluating and improving the motion of joints, as well as understanding the impact that correct and incorrect motion can have on the function of an animal’s nervous system, pain perception, musculoskeletal comfort, and overall performance.

Animals in all stages of life and physical activity may benefit from VSMT adjustments. While VSMT evaluations should be conducted in conjunction with wellness and lameness evaluations, adjustments may be used to improve an animal’s total body comfort as well as used proactively to avoid or minimize dysfunction of the nervous and musculoskeletal systems.

Dr. Lindquist is certified in Veterinary Spinal Manipulative Therapy (VSMT) for both small and large animals through the Healing Oasis Wellness Center, which is the only school that provides Post Graduate State Approved (through the Educational Approval Board of WI) Certification in VSMT and is accredited under the United States Department of Education (by the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training).

Dr. Lindquist has also successfully earned the certificate of competency provided by the College of Animal Chiropractors, becoming a Fellow of the College of Animal Chiropractors.

  • Reiki

Reiki is a complimentary therapy that has origins in Japan. It is a form of energy medicine that promotes relaxation and healing on all levels: physical, emotional and spiritual. To learn more about Reiki, I encourage you to visit the website www.reiki.org.

Dr. Lindquist is a certified Usui/Holy Fire III Reiki Master, Holy Fire III Karuna Reiki Master, and Holy Fire III Animal Reiki Master, trained through the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT).

  • Tui-na

Tui-na is a Chinese manual therapy, similar to massage, that combines acupressure and manipulation to help promote balance in the body and improve health. Many animals tolerate Tui-na very well and some of the techniques can be taught to the pet parent to help facilitate and enhance the treatment plan between appointments.

  • Chinese Herbal Medications

Chinese Herbal Medicine is another component of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM). It is often used in conjunction with acupuncture and the other TCVM treatment modalities, but it can also be used alone. Many of the herbs today are prepared using modern technology and tested to ensure quality control. The use of Chinese Herbal Medications is guided by the TCVM examination and pattern diagnoses, designed to help correct the imbalance within the body and to help the body heal itself. These medications are generally safe, when being used correctly, and can often be used with many of the Western medications, enhancing treatment.

Dr. Lindquist has taken advanced courses through the Chi University and is working towards certification in Chinese Herbal Medicine.

Palliative and Hospice Care

Palliative and Hospice Care are considered when an animal has been diagnosed with an incurable disease or a disease where treatment is not sought, and the focus is on the animal’s quality of life.

A palliative care plan may include a variety of treatment modalities to help reduce pain and discomfort, and help maintain an acceptable quality of life for the remainder of your pet’s time with you. These modalities may include one or many of the following: Acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicines, Western medications, Reiki, Tui-na, VSMT, and/or Lacer therapy.

When we focus on the quality of life of your pet, the goal is to keep your animal comfortable and enjoying life as much as possible. We will also work together to come up with an End-of-Life plan, so that when the time comes to say good-bye, we can be present in the moment and not worry about the details.

Dr. Lindquist is certified in TCVM Palliative and End-of-Life Care through the Chi University.

End-of-Life Home Euthanasia Services

The End-of-Life decision is one of the most difficult decisions many of us with pets will ever have to make. When it is time to say good-bye, we want the experience to be a peaceful one for both you and your pet. The service we offer uses a more spiritual approach, to help your beloved animal cross over the rainbow bridge, feeling only love and comfort.

This service includes a complimentary Telemedicine Consult to discuss your pet’s quality of life, your pet’s medical history (if not already a patient), your expectations for the visit, aftercare options and an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have.

Prior to the visit, we will email you a link for a pre-recorded, channeled, Reiki guided meditation designed to bring peace and healing. It is best if you listen to this meditation at home, with your pet present, in a quiet area. You may play music in the background during the meditation if you would like.

At the beginning of the visit, we will sit down and talk through the euthanasia process and I can answer any additional questions you may have.  If the visit was not paid for in advance, we will take care of payment at this time, so that the remainder of the visit is about your pet.  When you are ready, we will give your pet an injectable sedation medication. The goal is to allow your pet the ability to relax and not experience any pain or stress.   Once your pet is fully sedated, calm, and relaxed, we will give the final euthanasia injection with you present, allowing your pet to pass peacefully in your loving arms.  This can be done in the house or outside in your pet’s favorite area (weather permitting).  When you are ready, I will take your pet away for cremation unless you have made your own arrangements.  If I am taking your pet, I may ask for help with carrying your pet to my vehicle if it is over 50 lbs.  Every animal will be placed into a Euthabag, which is a special bag designed to be used for either home burial or cremation.

We offer cremation services through Harthaven Pet Cremation Services in Anchorage. We can take your pet’s remains to them for an additional fee or you can schedule services directly with them. Please reach out to the company for additional information if you would like to work with them directly.
