What is Integrative Medicine?
Integrative Medicine combines the best of conventional Western veterinary medicine with Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) to provide a comprehensive, holistic approach to your pet’s health. In TCVM, disease is viewed as an imbalance within the body, with all systems interconnected—when one system is out of balance, it can affect the function of others. By identifying patterns of disharmony, we can develop individualized treatment plans that address the root cause of your pet’s condition, rather than just the symptoms.
TCVM incorporates a variety of holistic therapies, including Acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, dietary therapy, and energy-based modalities. When combined with conventional Western medicine, this approach allows us to support your pet’s physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, creating a more complete and personalized care plan.
An Integrative Medicine appointment begins with a detailed history, including information about your pet and your goals for treatment. Both a Western medical examination and a TCVM assessment are performed. Using this information, Dr. Lindquist develops a personalized treatment plan tailored to your pet’s needs.
Treatment may include one or more of the following modalities:
Acupuncture
Veterinary Spinal Manipulative Therapy (VSMT)
Veterinary Massage and Rehabilitation Therapy (VMRT)
Chinese Herbal Medicine
Western medication recommendations
Reiki
By combining these therapies, Integrative Medicine offers a holistic, balanced approach to care—addressing your pet’s health from multiple angles to optimize comfort, performance, and overall quality of life.

Who Am I?
Kellie Lindquist, DVM, CVA, CTPEP, CVSMT, FCoAC, CVMRT
My name is Dr. Kellie Lindquist, and I am the founder of Aurora Integrated Veterinary Services. Animals have always been a central part of my life, so it was a natural path for me to pursue a career in Veterinary Medicine. I graduated from Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. Following graduation, I practiced both large and small medicine along the beautiful Oregon coast before moving to Alaska in 2012, where I have been working predominately with small animals ever since.
Over time, I noticed the challenges of providing care for senior pets, including my own. While preventative and wellness care serves animals well through their adolescent and adult years, managing pain, co-morbidities, and overall quality of life in older pets often required additional approaches. My interest in Integrative Medicine grew not only from my own experience with an auto-immune disorder that was not fully managed with traditional Western treatments, but also through the health and activities of my own dogs. From agility and hunting to managing illness, working with my own animals firsthand allowed me to see the benefits of Eastern modalities in action and gave me deeper insight into how these therapies can support healing, performance, and overall well-being.
My approach combines the best of Western and Eastern veterinary medicine, creating individualized treatment plans that address the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of both pets and their families. I am passionate about supporting animals through a wide range of care, including treatment of chronic conditions, palliative and hospice care, and compassionate, spiritually focused home end-of-life services.
